Hello readers and welcome back to my blog for another adventure to a new beautiful country. I hope you all made the Greek pasta or made something Greek related and learned something new about a new cuisine. This week we are traveling to a country that I have been dreaming about visiting for as long as I can remember and that country is England. According to England Forever, traditional English cuisine has always used very simple flavors and ingredients but has gone through a lot of history and change. English cuisine uses a lot of traditional foods like chicken, fish, lamb, pork, and beef, normally with potatoes and some other vegetables. As more settlers from other countries moved into England they brought with them different flavors that got incorporated into the English cuisine. One of the biggest cuisine changes for England came from the English Protestants who liked to use strong, bold flavors and ingredients.
This week we will be making a traditional English dessert or brunch/tea time dish. That dish is classic English scones with homemade raspberry jam and homemade whipped cream. English scones are something I have wanted to try and make for a while and this was definitely a learning experience for me. The recipe I used was very simple and consisted of flour, baking powder, white sugar, sea salt, cold butter, milk, and an egg. The jam recipe I used only consisted of three ingredients raspberries, lemon juice, and honey. Finally the whipped cream I made I do not have a recipe for as I have made it a hundred times and it only has heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar in it. I suggest you listen to all the tips that the scone recipe gives you because I ended up making my scones too thin and they did not look like traditional English scones. Even with my little mess up, these scones were amazing and I definitely recommend you try and make them. Here are the recipes I used for both the scones and the raspberry jam.
