Hello world travelers and welcome back to my blog for our very last adventure to a new country. I hope you all had fun trying to make the British scones and homemade jam with whatever berries you like. I also hope you all had a little more success on them than I did. This week for our very last adventure to a new country somewhere around the world we are going to be “traveling” to Japan!!!! According to JapanZone, a typical Japanese meal will consist of miso soup, some kind of fish or meat, a bowl of rice, and pickled vegetables. Japan is also very well known for its wide range of different kinds of noodles some being ramen, udon, and soba. According to JapanZone, since Japan is an island country, they have a very wide range of good seafood with lots of dishes including eel, octopus, shellfish, squid, and fish. It is said that one of the reasons Japan has such low rates of heart disease is from the amount of fish they consume as a country.
This week the food that we will be making is something I have been dying to try and make. This dish is super traditional in Japan and it is SUSHI!!!!! Sushi is something I eat a lot of and have never made myself up until now. The sushi recipe which I will include is actually a vegan, no meat recipe as I don’t trust myself enough yet to get the sushi right with meat. This recipe is split into two different parts the first is how to make the sushi rice and the second part is how to assemble and make the sushi rolls. The first part includes Japanese sushi rice, rice vinegar, sugar or maple syrup, salt, and nori sheets. Then the second part includes firm tofu, avocado, cucumber, carrots, and soy sauce. This sushi was super easy to make and was super yummy. My sushi was more of a log than a roll because my knives at my house were not sharp enough to cut through the nori sheets. They were still very good and I highly recommend you make them.
